Friday Night Films

February 24, 2023

Friday, February 24 from 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm

Watch films in style at Taliesin West. Our Friday Night Films provide a new way to enjoy the silver screen just as the Wrights did. Each month, we will screen a cinematic classic that had been watched by the Wrights and the Fellowship. Stay after for an exciting conversation about the film, its history, and how it might connect to Wright and his work.

Our feature is Citizen Kane (1941). When a reporter is assigned to decipher newspaper magnate Charles Foster Kane’s (Orson Welles) dying words, his investigation gradually reveals the fascinating portrait of a complex man who rose from obscurity to staggering heights. Though Kane’s friend and colleague Jedediah Leland (Joseph Cotten), and his mistress, Susan Alexander (Dorothy Comingore), shed fragments of light on Kane’s life, the reporter fears he may never penetrate the mystery of the elusive man’s final word, “Rosebud.”
Q&A with Prof. Chris LaMont to follow.
