Youth and Family Programs at Taliesin West

Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation | Aug 11, 2022

Frank Lloyd Wright changed the way we build and the way we live. We use Wright’s revolutionary design concepts to educate and inspire people of all ages, challenging them to understand and embrace innovation in their own lives.

With that in mind when it comes to programs and experiences for families and children, each themed activity takes inspiration from Frank Lloyd Wright’s work, the Sonoran desert, and our wonderful UNESCO World Heritage Site, Taliesin West. Throughout the year there is always something happening. From tours, field trips, and scouting, to programs designed just for homeschool students. There are even virtual programs you can access at any time from your computer.

On a few select Saturday mornings later this fall and winter there will be workshops and tours available. Guided Family tours at Taliesin West last an hour, specifically created for our littlest visitors and their families. Together with a Museum Educator, your family will explore the architectural history and the natural wonders of the Sonoran Desert. You will see many spaces at Taliesin West that visitors of all ages enjoy, including Frank Lloyd Wright’s office and a special movie theatre from 1949 called “The Cabaret.” This tour is ideal for families with children aged 5-12. Younger children are also welcome. Price: $30 per adult, $15 per child (age 6-18). 5 and under are free. Learn more.

Family Workshops are another great way for families to spend time together. Join the educators of Taliesin West on an engineering adventure for the whole family! A workshop at Taliesin West is a small group experience for no more than 20 participants, allowing participants to ask questions and explore through hands-on activities. These workshops are intended for children ages 9-14 and their families. Adult participation is encouraged and one adult per family/group is required to register and attend. Price: $25 per participant, 10% discount for Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation members. Learn more.

For homeschool students, Taliesin West offers a host of programs beginning in October. Registration fees are $15 per participant. Learn more.

There are also Winter, Spring, and Summer camps appropriately named “Camp Taliesin West”. These camps encourage participants to explore, create, and design as they engage in fun and educational activities. Campers will learn from our unique, historic property and the principles of Wright, applying them to their own projects and adventures. Registration is now open for the Winter camp and Spring camp registration begins in October. Learn more.
