Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation | Apr 27, 2021

Our friends at the Wyoming Valley School Cultural Arts Center and Town of Wyoming (Wisconsin) received a $90,200 community development investment grant to complete vital preservation work.

Wyoming Valley School Cultural Arts Center (WVS) and the Town of Wyoming, WI has been awarded the Community Development Investment Grant in the amount of $90,200. The grant was issued by Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC).

This is the first time that WVS and the Town of Wyoming have been awarded a grant from WEDC, with the funds being used for preservation work. The project involves stabilizing subsidence under a portion of the foundation, repairs to the chimney, and a new wood shingle roof. Interior work will include sheet rock and wood sheathing repair and partial interior painting.

The Frank Lloyd Wright-designed building was opened in 1958 and is the architect’s only elementary school commission to be built. Closed in 1990, the building was opened to the public again in 2010 as a cultural arts center. The upcoming preservation work will help WVS prepare for many years of expanded community outreach.

The Wyoming Valley School Cultural Arts Center is a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to restore and preserve this architecturally significant Frank Lloyd Wright building, retain its original use as an educational and gathering center, and offer a variety of public programming and event opportunities for adults and children.
